Our website provides uplifting video features on
people, places, events, activities and sports
generating from Southern
California's Victor Valley
(and points beyond). Terry Kurtz combines lifelong
interests in music,
sports and education with six
decades of experience in media-related fields,
beginning as a fourteen-year-old
KBRX Radio DJ
in rural O'Neill, Nebraska (1960). Sports was his
priority in high school and college ('though
selected to Nebraska's All-State Band as a
drummer), he was inducted into the Dakota
Wesleyan University
Athletic Hall of Fame for
his tenure as Tigers quarterback (1963-66
seasons). Teaching United States History and
Cinematography at Apple Valley High School
forty years (1967-2006),
he also hosted KAVR
Radio's Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Music
(1970-81), became KHIZ TV's first sportscaster
(1987-92), CNN Headline News Local Edition
anchor (1992-2006),
and produced Victor Valley
Daily Press video features (2006-07).
Reknowned for integrity and creativity as a
journalist, and compassion
for his subjects,
today he spotlights uplifting activities and those
who strive to make them
happen. In the process,
terrykurtz.com presents well
over 200 video
features, showcasing some of the best the Victor
Valley has to offer.
Asked whether it's of greater
importance to inform or entertain the viewer, he
responds, "I'm
determined to do both."
